Cherry Valley Elementary School

Meet the Principal

Hello Cherry Valley Families,
It is an honor and privilege to serve the Cherry Valley school community filled with outstanding students, incredible educators and highly supportive families. My goal is to foster a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment where students feel safe to learn and growth into leaders of tomorrow.

At Cherry Valley Elementary, we often use the words “be the best you can be” to help our students understand our expectations of being safe, respectful problem solvers, and making good decisions. Whether we are talking about our behavior at recess, in the cafeteria, in the classroom, or on a field trip, we want our students to show their best selves and to do their very best work each day. Our school strives to be an inclusive learning environment where leaders are safe to learn and learners are safe to lead.
The Cherry Valley Staff are committed to developing a learning community where all students:

We are very fortunate to enjoy a highly supportive PTA and parent community who tirelessly support the students and staff at Cherry Valley. We invite you to join us in our efforts to make Cherry Valley Elementary the very best it can be!
Let me share some information about my educational background and professional experience.  I grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I attended The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, where I received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. I began my teaching career as a Peace Corps Volunteer Teacher in the Fiji Islands.  Once I returned to the United States, I attended the University of Hawaii, where I received a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education.  I was as a Middle School Counselor for eleven years and in elementary school for six years. I was encouraged by my school district’s leaders to pursue a degree in Educational Leadership.  I received my Educational Leadership degree through the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2008 at which time I received my Administrator’s License.  My most recent administrative experience has been shaped by six years of successful leadership as an Elementary Principal and Middle School Assistant Principal. When I'm not at school, I like to read, yoga, garden, go to the movies, and spend time with family and friends.

During the 2019-2020 school year, it is my hope that we will work together to provide the students of Cherry Valley the best possible opportunities in preparing them as leaders for tomorrow. As the Cherry Valley Principal, my door is always open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself to me. I look forward to the opportunity to partnering with all of you this school year!
